"Searching for Sugarman"

Documentary film makers can lead us all down a sugar coated road. The art of leaving things out and not mentioning important facts is just another way of being  massive manipulators of truth. Most people go to see documentaries to gain insights into truth. The truth on screen should strive to give an accurate chronological sequence of major life events, in this case Rodriguez's  missing years, the years when he toured Australia in 1979 and again in 1981 when he supported Midnight Oil.The live album that was called" Alive"{recorded  in Australia},to squash to rumours that he had committed suicide.Chart success in Australia, with the" Best of Rodriguez" getting as high as number 23 on the the top 40 albums  in 1977,staying in the charts for 55 weeks . How the great" Rodriguez hunt" failed to uncover any of this information is a bit of a puzzle. When you see Rodriguez playing live in South Africa in 1998,you are led to believe that this was his first live performance since he slid into obscurity in 1972 after the release of his second album and when he was dropped from his record label.Sixto rodriguez is a legend. This documentary has brought his music to the world again and this can only be seen in a positive light!
